Holy Basil
Holy Basil, (Ocimum sanctum) Tulsi[Hindi], this plant comes from India where it is revered as the herb sacred to the goddess Lakshmi.. Tulsi means matchless. Holy Basil has been established thru research to be able to lower blood sugar in some types of diabetes. In India research has shown that the plant helps to lower blood pressure and have anti-inflammatory and fever reducing properties. It is believed to have an affinity with the heart, protecting it from stress, and lowering cholesterol levels. Holy Basil is a great herb for helping with respiratory problems such as colds, coughs, and bronchitis, It is also helpful in certain situations with pleurisy and asthma. The juice may also be used on insect stings, ring worms a few drops can also be helpful for ear infections. The herb may be used as a decoction, juice or powder.
